Thanks Jay. Happy Fourth to everyone ....
July 02, 2009, 01:59:51 PM
Well Denny, keep a hose handy for the idiots with bottle rockets. Santa Ana has "safe and sane" fireworks stands every few blocks but where I live if they catch you with any fireworks you better have your check book, credit cards or cash handy to pay the fines.
Have a safe and happy 4th all!

I live in a unincorporated part of the county and they just cannot control the illegal stuff. I think they just gave up ....
July 02, 2009, 12:44:39 PM
I like the fact that in alot of areas fireworks are illegal.  Then again you can be from a different state and buy them but, if you live in the state that is selling them you can't buy them.
July 02, 2009, 11:54:50 AM
Jay, actually we have a pretty wild fourth here in Oceano. It is like a war zone; all kinds of illegal F/W. All you do is pull out a lawn chair and you will be entertained for hours! Better than the Pismo Pier and without all the crowds!
July 02, 2009, 11:42:13 AM
Yeah! Los Olivos is really a quaint little place w/o the "circus" in town!
July 02, 2009, 10:22:43 AM
Denny, Why not after all you guys are NOT going to be hit with the overflow of Neverland since they canceled it.
July 02, 2009, 09:59:54 AM
I'm swamped with work, but nothing rush-rush, so I may take tomorrow off and make it a three day holiday weekend ..
July 02, 2009, 09:57:21 AM
Have a good and safe 4th of July weekend all.  We will be closed but will keep a watch on the Forum from home.
July 02, 2009, 09:45:31 AM
I am working tomorrow. One of the lucky ones to still have a job I guess.
July 02, 2009, 09:18:41 AM
Morning all.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day and a good weekend. (for those who do not have to work tomorrow)
June 30, 2009, 02:07:14 PM
JANET, that's great. That type of public service is one of of the activities hams do well. Hope it made the event run smoother.
June 29, 2009, 01:08:28 PM
We had the annual
Wheel-a-thon for disabled people this weekend and they had a ham radio station out at that.  They helped along the route in case something happened.
June 29, 2009, 09:20:24 AM
Morning everyone.
Beautiful weekend her in SOCAL. Hope some of you took up my suggestion and visited some ham radio field day sites. Was on the air here for about 7 hours and lost my voice for awhile. Have a good week all.

June 22, 2009, 07:51:07 AM
Morning all.  Interesting weekend around here. Tornados (no real damage)  lots of rain and a train derailment with a fire (ethanol) burned for 22-23 hours. Now the fun begins. (try to find out why)

David Oppenheimer is a seismologist with the U.S.G.S. "I think most seismologists will consider it an aftershock of the magnitude 6.5 earthquake back in December 22, 2003."

That's what they say. Who knows?

June 21, 2009, 11:55:30 AM
isn't that a bit late in coming ? I would think that afer a day or so it would be called a new earthquake. LOL Even if on the same fault line. Otherwise they could all be called aftershocks as they nearly always are in old fault lines.
June 21, 2009, 11:06:45 AM
Jimbo, I heard this may have been an aftershock from this EQ in 2003:

One of these days California is gonna hump up and shake all you guys off into the ocean LOL
June 20, 2009, 05:01:52 PM
I guess "no" on both, Jimbo. I was awake when it happened. A roll, than a quick jolt, another roll, and then it was over ...
June 20, 2009, 01:49:46 PM
Didn't shake you out of bed did it Denny Huh? Earthquakes that don't do that are hardly worth mentioning are they??? Besides I never felt a thing up here. LOL
June 20, 2009, 12:08:44 PM
A 4.6 earthquake here on the central coast of CA @ 5:30 AM. That is all. Over and out ...
